Wanbli Ota Student Organization

Wanbli Ota means "many eagles" in the Lakota language.  We are a student-run, non-profit, organization at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. Our goal is to promote cultural diversity on campus as well as in our surrounding communities. We accomplish this by holding the biggest cultural activity in Durango: Hozhoni Days. Hozhoni Days consists of the Dennis "Chum" Sinquah Basketball Tournament, a Native American speaker series, The Miss Hozhoni Pageant, a 5k run/walk, and the Hozhoni Days Pow-Wow.  We work throughout the school year to organize and fundraise for these events. We can often be seen selling Indian Tacos and fry bread, having bake sales, or selling raffle tickets to raise money.  Anyone is welcome to join Wanbli Ota!!  Our meetings are at the Native American Center at 5:30pm on Thursday nights. If you have any questions give us a call at 970.247.7221. We look forward to meeting you.
